*Characters*

Kasumi (かすみ) - The main character. Her name means "Mist." She was sacrificed to the gods for rain by her village. Mikazuki, the guardian Sennin over her village, was going to take her back, but Kasumi insisted she was a sacrifice and she had to stay. Thus began the long journey of Kasumi in her quest to become a guardian Sennin just like Mikazuki-sama.

Mikazuki (三日月) - The guardian Sennin of Kasumi's village. His name means "Crescent Moon." Everything in the story seems to revolve around him, as it seems nearly everyone has ties to him. He was once mortal, like Kasumi, and became a Sennin after a terrible sacrifice was made. He is also a Shinsen, a special type of Sennin that is on par with the gods themselves.

Kasai (香西) - The god of the West Wind. His name means "Western Incense." He's a good friend of Mikazuki and can frequently be found hanging out at Mikazuki's home.

Kochi (東風) - The god of the East Wind. His name means "East Wind." He's the youngest god to ever become a primary cardinal god, and he gets himself into trouble. Stripped of his title and powers, he's taken in by Mikazuki in an attempt to teach him humility.

Karin (カリン) - Mikazuki's bird partner. (S)he has some special magic.

Aya (アヤ) - Kasumi's bird partner, Karin's child, given to Kasumi by Mikazuki. She was named after Kasumi's two best friends from her village.

Yukiori (雪織) - A Sennin of the snow. Kasumi looks up to her as a role model, because she's a female Sennin, which are rare.

Gurangia (グランギア) - Leader of the Gia Tribe.

Iriya (イリヤ) - Gurangia's little brother

Okishiro (オキシロ) - Gurangia's personal aide. He lost an eye in the attacks led by Kochi and still holds a deep grudge.

Setsu (セツ) - A girl Mikazuki knew when he was still human. Much spoilers here.

Onoe (尾上) - He shows up briefly in volumes five and six, gets into fights with Kasumi and Kochi, rather amusing when he states to be 56 years old and Kochi comes back with "Ha, I'm 75!"

Chihiro (千尋) - His name means "Thousand questions" and that is certainly what he is. He doesn't appear until volume six, so any information on him is a spoiler. ^.^

Nanki (南季) - The god of the South Wind. His name means "Southern Season"

Hokurei (北嶺) - The god of the North Wind. His name means "Northern Peak"

Saishiden (香紫電) - The god of the West Lightning. His name means "West purple lightning flash." He dislikes Mikazuki because they were in love with the same woman long ago, and she chose Mikazuki. Later, when the mortal woman became distraught over the fact that she had aged and killed herself, Saishiden blamed Mikazuki.

Hokusen (北千) - The goddess of the North Lightning. Her name means "Northern Thousand." She cares much for the mortal humans, and warns Mikazuki about someone using wind and lightning to harm them.

Toui (東以) - The god of the East Lightning. His name means "Eastward"

Kanan (果南) - The goddess of the South Lightning. Her name means "Southern Achievement"

A-chan & Ya-chan (あっちゃん & やっちゃん) - Kasumi's two best friends on earth. She misses them very much, and names Aya after them by combigning their names.
